The New Year Honours 2009 were announced on 31 December 2008 in the United Kingdom,^[1] New Zealand,^[2] Cook Islands,^[3] Barbados,^[4] Grenada,^[5] Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,^[6] Belize,^[7] Antigua and Barbuda,^[8] and Saint Christopher and Nevis,^[9] to celebrate the year past and mark the beginning of 2009.
