Courtney Wayment-Smith (née Wayment; born August 4, 1998) is an American track and field athlete. Wayment was Gatorade Player of the Year in high school, won four national championships in college with the BYU Cougars, and will compete for Team USA in the 3000 m steeplechase at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

International and professional

Wayment has made 2 Team USA senior national teams. In 2022, Wayment ran at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, United States finishing 12th in 9:22.37.[1] In 2023, Wayment ran at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary finishing 15th in 9:25.90.

High school

Wayment won the 2015 Utah state cross country meet and was Gatorade Player of the Year.[3]

Wayment graduated from Davis High School (Utah) in 2016 as a 2016 high school All-American mile honoree, three-time UHSAA state champion, and 16-time UHSAA state finalist with high school personal best times of 2:15.57 (800 meters), 4:56.94 (1609 meters), and 10:53.58 (3200 meters).[4][5][6]

Personal

Wayment is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.[7] She married Tanner Smith in the Salt Lake Temple following her freshman year of college.[8] Wayment competes under her maiden name "Courtney Wayment".
