Birdlife has changed the way that they format URLs for new species.

Instead of using BirdLIfe Species ID, they are now using IUCN species IDs.

The old format still works but is non transferable directly to the new. Any change to the template would require updating IDs on any page using the template.

I found this by looking at the Mexican squirrel-cuckoo. A new species for 2014, it only has an url in the form of: http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/species/factsheet/61419028, but does not work with the old form of: http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/speciesfactsheet.php?id=61419028.

The crested caracara works with the old form of: http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/speciesfactsheet.php?id=3570, but the newer form of http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/species/factsheet/3570 point to a species of marmoset. You need to change the ID to this: http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/species/factsheet/22696255

The doc says, "The BirdLife sisRecID can be found in the URL of the search results for that species." I searched for Northern royal albatross - the resulting URL was http://datazone.birdlife.org/species/factsheet/northern-royal-albatross-diomedea-sanfordi. I couldn't find the sisRecID in the URL or on the page. I checked a 2nd species and got a similar result. Nurg (talk) 00:02, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
